The Whole World and Me

secretproject revolution is a short film directed by Madonna and Steven Klein.

This film launches Art for Freedom, a global initiative to further freedom of expression, created by Madonna, curated by VICE and distributed by BitTorrent.

Art for Freedom encourages the world to express their personal meaning of freedom and revolution in the form of video, music, poetry and photography. Anyone can join the revolution by uploading original artwork to ArtforFreedom.com or by using the tag #artforfreedom

That said... Let me tell you something about this video!

Madonna, the eternal material girl, does not want to start a global revolution that you can upload on your iphone, even though there's an hashtag, uploads, websites and everything digital involved. 

What I take from this manifesto is this:

A revolution is ALWAYS  a re-evolution and it must start, first and foremost, within. Yes, you can hear the crowd scream and you can join them. Yes, you can carry signs with strong words that someone else wrote. Yes... But, will it matter if your mind and your heart don't follow?...

The revolution must start within, the evolution must start with ourselves and grow from there.
This is my manifesto....

 

There's something nostalgic about Autumn that I can't really explain... It's not that I feel nostalgic for the gone summer days or sunny afternoons at the beach... I guess I like seasons. But there's something about sweaters and the smell of hot tea that just makes me feel a little bit nostalgic, missing something that I can't quite describe.

Maybe it's the orange leaves that end up falling, covering the sidewalks, or maybe it's the wind and that first chill when you realize you should definitely bring a sweater tomorrow, or the fact that my feet are cold and I need warm socks to sleep... Whatever it is, the mood is this and the only thing I want to do is curl up with a blanket and my cat and watch old movies while it's raining outside.

I want that love that moved the mountains.

I want that love that split the ocean.

I want that love that made winds tremble.

I want that love that roared like thunder.

I want that love that will raise the dead.

I want that love that lifts us to ecstasy.

I want that love that is the silence of eternity...

There's this special moment that happens... One that if you're very luck you may feel more than once.

It's the moment in between - a kind of different space in time where rules don't always apply. It's the moment when you only feel. You don't think, you don't question you aren't even afraid... You just feel. 

This is when life really happens... This is when you discover what euphoria really means... This is when you leap with faith and don't even look back.

If you're very, very lucky, you'll have someone by your side jumping as blindly as you and you will both feel that special exhilaration that only the moments in between can make you feel.

Seriously... I am writing this with tears still flowing from my eyes. Oh man, oh man why do I do this to myself? Because these little videos, these unforgettable 3 minutes give me hope... That's it! Hope that we all learn, one step at a time, one video at a time, how to be good. Yes... good!

This is a quote from the movie "Into the Wild", written and directed by Sean Penn and inspired by a true story.

Many of us feel the need, the urge even, to find ourselves. We live the lives that seem to have been laid out for us and there's something, this tiny voice, this tiny knot in our stomachs, that tell us to reach out for more, to look for ourselves beyond what is expected.

Although I haven't seen the movie yet, I have a feeling I will relate to it and its story, and most of all, I am sure I will cry! ahahah I know, I know... what can I say, I'm a cry baby, I relate too much and I tend to feel other people's pains as my own. So I have been postponing watching the movie, just because I know it will be one of those punch-in-the-stomach-experiences.

Maybe I'm just afraid...Afraid I will hear this tiny voice just a little bit louder, feel this knot like an exploding star inside my stomach and feel there's no way I can hide any longer from the inevitability of my own self search...

Well... in between these moments I have the movie soundtrack as my own soundtrack - all made by Eddie Vedder by the way.
